Axcis Education are working with a fantastic mainstream college to support a student with SEND who is working towards a Level 2 Catering qualification. The successful candidate will be responsible for tailoring their support to enable the student to develop their skills, confidence and independence.
Duties of the role include:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support during practical catering sessions and classroom-based learning.
- Clearly modelling tasks and techniques and demonstrating each stage of an activity.
- Breaking down tasks into manageable steps and reinforcing instructions as required.
- Offer additional support with theory work to help the student process, understand and retain relevant information
- Encourage and support the pupil in developing their confidence, motivation and guidance by providing appropriate levels of guidance.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience supporting learners with SEND needs
- Patience, and the ability to work at the learner’s pace
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide clear demonstrations and guidance
- Willingness to work within a catering environment, including handling and working around all food products, including fish and seafood
- Previous experience within catering or food preparation is desirable
- Relevant catering knowledge and SEND qualifications is desirable
