Overview
We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Yard Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the yard area, handling materials, and supporting daily operational activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and possess a proactive approach to safety and organisation.
Duties
- Assisting with the movement and organisation of materials within the yard using appropriate equipment
- Loading and unloading lorries and containers with heavy or bulky items
- Keeping the yard clean, tidy, and free from hazards to ensure a safe working environment
- Operating basic machinery and tools related to yard activities, subject to training
- Conducting routine inspections of equipment and reporting any maintenance issues
- Assisting with stock control and inventory management as required
- Supporting other team members in daily operational tasks to ensure smooth workflow

Requirements
- Previous experience or knowledge of mechanical systems is desirable but not essential; training will be provided where necessary
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently on a regular basis
- Physical fitness and stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Awareness of health and safety procedures relevant to yard operations
