Based in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and surrounding areas, we provide high-quality sports coaching and holiday camps that support primary schools and working families and enrich young lives through sport and play.
We are now offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as a Apprentice Sports Coach across our Primary Aged Schools. If you're enthusiastic, eager to learn, and love working with children, this could be the perfect first step in your childcare career.
The Role
As an Apprentice Sports Coach, you'll support the delivery of engaging before, during and after school sport for children aged 4–11. You’ll help to create a safe, stimulating environment where children can play, relax, and thrive. The contract is a minimum of 30 hours per week, with overtime opportunities available.
Alongside your hands-on work, you’ll complete a Level 2 or Level 4 Sports Coaching Apprenticeship, gaining valuable skills, experience, and a nationally recognised qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and delivering a wide range of fun, age-appropriate activities.
- Support children’s play, development, and well-being in a caring, inclusive setting.
- Help to set up and tidy away equipment and resources.
- Supervise children and ensure their safety at all times.
- Promote positive behaviour and inclusion.
- Prepare and serve healthy snacks.
- Communicate professionally with children, parents/carers, and the team.
- Follow all JR Sports Group safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour policies.
- Attend training sessions and complete coursework as required by the apprenticeship programme.
What We’re Looking For
- A positive, reliable, and enthusiastic attitude.
- A genuine interest in working with children in a sport-based environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A willingness to learn and complete all training and assessments.
- GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4/C or above (or willingness to work towards).
- Must be 16+ and eligible to work in the UK.
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
