Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Deli Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food service, possess excellent time management skills, and have a keen eye for food safety standards. This role involves preparing and serving a variety of deli products in a fast-paced environment, ensuring customers receive exceptional service. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right candidate. The position offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience in the food retail sector.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a range of deli foods, including slicing meats and cheeses, assembling sandwiches, and garnishing platters
- Serve customers efficiently whilst maintaining high standards of customer service
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are strictly followed at all times
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli area, including equipment and work surfaces
- Assist with stock replenishment and inventory management
- Upsell products to maximise sales opportunities while providing excellent customer care
- Manage cash register operations accurately during shifts
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operation of the deli
Experience
- Previous experience in food preparation or restaurant service is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is desirable
- Basic maths skills are necessary for handling transactions and stock management
- Experience in a kitchen environment or culinary setting is advantageous
- Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
- Ability to work well within a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and customers
