John George is one of the U.K.’s leading wholesale distributors of fixings and fasteners to building, roofing, fencing and agricultural merchants.
We are currently looking for a Transport Supervisor to run the transport operation from our Basildon Depot. Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will be responsible for the routing, transport and delivery of all goods in and out of the depot.
Working hours are 7:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Supervision of all Basildon based drivers, including monitoring tachograph compliance
- Planning holiday cover
- Recruiting and training new drivers as and when necessary
- Ensuring all vehicles are properly maintained and cleaned
- Maintaining supervisor logs for the depot's transport
- Vehicle routing for the next day’s deliveries
- Liaising with the sales department to ensure customer satisfaction
Key Skills
- Self-motivation and ability to use initiative
- Organisation and drive to maintain and improve systems
- Ability to lead and organise a team
- Forklift licence not essential as training will be given
- Drivers licence, ability to drive a manual van
