You have at least 6 years' post-qual experience working with catastrophically injured clients - brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputations or complex trauma. You currently recommend long-term care and equipment packages, and you're currently practising in the UK. If that's you, read on.
What the role involves
As a Care Expert with J Webb, you carry out independent home assessments and produce detailed care reports used in personal injury and clinical negligence cases. Your clinical opinion - based on what the client genuinely needs, without budget constraints - is what solicitors instruct us for. You manage your own hours and work volume around your existing role.
What makes this different from statutory work
- Clinical freedom. No budget constraints. You recommend what is clinically justified - not what the funding allows.
- Stay in practice. Your existing NHS or community role is an asset, not a conflict. We need you to keep practising.
- You control the volume. One or two reports a month to start. You set the pace.
- Reliable income. Fortnightly payment, without exception. No chasing invoices.
Training and support
No prior medico-legal experience is required. We provide a structured induction, 1-to-1 mentoring from experienced Care Experts, and a dedicated support team. J Webb has been training clinicians in expert witness work for over 40 years.
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years' post-qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist
- Currently working with clients with complex physical injuries - spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputations, polytrauma, orthopaedic trauma or cerebral palsy
- Active experience recommending and reviewing long-term care packages
- Currently practising in the UK
- Capacity for approximately 6–8 hours per week alongside your clinical role
