Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated FLT Counterbalance / General Operative to join our dynamic warehouse team. This role involves operating forklifts, managing materials, and supporting daily warehouse functions to ensure smooth operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling goods efficiently, maintaining safety standards, and assisting with general warehouse tasks. Prior experience in warehouse environments and mechanical knowledge are highly desirable. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within a fast-paced logistics setting.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate counterbalance forklifts to load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse
- Manage stock levels using a Warehouse Management System (WMS) to ensure accurate inventory control
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including packing and documentation
- Perform basic equipment repairs and maintenance checks on forklift machinery and other warehouse tools
- Handle materials with care, ensuring proper storage and organisation of goods
- Support with general warehouse duties such as sorting, stacking, and organising stock
- Assist in the movement of goods.
- 4 on and 4 off shift rotation on 12 hour shifts. (2 day and 2 nights)
Experience
- Proven experience operating forklift trucks, particularly counterbalance models
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is advantageous
- Previous experience in materials handling, shipping & receiving, or general warehousing roles preferred
- Mechanical knowledge or ability to perform basic equipment repairs is beneficial
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to perform basic maths accurately for inventory counts and measurements
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely and work in a physically demanding environment
- Prior experience working in a warehouse environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
