The Role
Location: Bury St Edmunds
Position: Graduate Teaching Assistant
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (term-time only)
Salary: £500–£520 per week
Contract Length: Full academic year minimum
Focus: Building classroom experience ahead of teacher training
Setting: Primary school supporting pupils from a range of backgrounds and abilities

- Hold a degree graded 2:2 or above
- Have strong GCSEs (A–C / equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science
- Are passionate about supporting children’s education and development
- Can motivate and engage pupils within lessons

- Can commit for the full academic year
- Work well as part of a wider school team
- Demonstrate resilience, patience, and strong behaviour management skills
Your Responsibilities
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support learning alongside the classroom teacher
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions for pupils with varying needs
- Help create a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
- Encourage pupils’ confidence, participation, and progress
- Support children both academically and socially throughout the school day
- Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to achieve the best outcomes for pupils
