We have a night support worker role in our supported housing service in Stockwell. The role builds on customer care, health and safety, flexibility, adaptability, child welfare including preparing for birth, developing positive parenting skills and maintaining their health during pregnancy.
The service focuses on a young person’s, it is made up of three sites supporting young mothers and babies Stockwell, and unaccompanied asylum-seeking young men. We are conveniently located a 10-minute walk from Stockwell tube station offering excellent transport links across London and beyond. Parking is available on site for colleagues.
Our customers come with a range of support needs, such as those associated with pregnancy and birth, mental health, care leaver status, probation, ex-offending, domestic violence, learning disabilities and asylum seeking.
You will join a lively, supportive and friendly team to provide overnight support to young parents, responding to concerns and support needs as they arise. The role involves supporting parents to recognise and respond to their children’s needs, develop effective parenting skills, and access emotional and practical support throughout the night. You will actively promote and deliver customer activities and workshops, carry out welfare checks when required, and work to ensure customers can thrive and achieve their full potential.
You will liaise closely with day support colleagues, service management, and external partners to ensure continuity of care. Using an asset-based approach, you will support customers to identify their strengths, needs, opportunities, rights, and responsibilities, enabling them to move towards independent living. You will also support customers to plan, set targets, and take appropriate action to achieve their goals and aspirations.
You will be required to work one day shift per month.
Provide overnight support to young parents, promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and effective parenting skills
Support customers to recognise and respond to their children’s needs and develop effective parenting skills, working in partnership with internal and external agencies
You need knowledge of safeguarding and how this may apply in the day-to-day work we do as well as understanding the reasons why people become homeless.
Support customers to identify their strengths, set goals, and overcome barriers related to housing stability, routines, benefits, and independent living, enabling them to achieve positive long-term outcomes.

You will need to be able to work shifts on a pre-planned rolling rota - 5 /7 days a week including mornings (from 7am), evenings (to 10pm) - these also include mid shifts and weekends.
