The Role
We are a well-established, family-run timber processing business with over 40 years’ experience, looking to recruit a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team.
This is a varied, practical role working across a wide range of heavy plant and production machinery in a sawmill environment. No two days are the same.
Your duties will include:
- Maintenance of conveyors, saw lines, cutters and associated equipment
- Changing bearings, blades and mechanical components
- Preventative maintenance and servicing
- Mechanical fault finding and breakdown repairs
- Working on hydraulics and pneumatics systems
- Welding and general fabrication work
- Supporting maintenance on PLC-controlled machinery (mechanical focus)
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in mechanical maintenance (plant, manufacturing, recycling, agricultural or similar)
- Confident fault-finding and working independently
- Practical and hands-on in approach
- Reliable with a strong awareness of health & safety
Experience in sawmills or timber is not required
What We Offer
- £38,000 – £45,000 salary depending on experience, Monday - Friday 44.5hrs
