Dental Reception/Dental Nurse
Location: Smiles By Hillside, 120 Bittacy Rise, Mill Hill, NW7 2HL.
Reports to: Principal Dentist
June Contract: Full- time start August 2026

As a front-of-house team member, you are the first and last impression our patients will have. You are central to the experience we create—and we take that seriously.
To proactively manage the non-clinical relationship with all patients—welcoming, supporting, and guiding them through their journey with us—while providing calm, empathetic, and high-energy service at every interaction.
You’ll also help us stay on top of modern communication tools—emails, instant messaging, WhatsApp, and phone—and contribute to the constant improvement of our communication systems.
Dental nursing 2 days out of the 5 day week, an amazing oppurtunity to have 2 roles in the week.
Reception & Communication
Greet all clients warmly, ensuring a calm and professional welcome that reflects our caring ethos.
Manage phone, email, WhatsApp, and in-person enquiries efficiently and with empathy.
Keep patients informed of any delays, changes, or relevant updates.
Schedule appointments accurately, optimising diaries to support productivity and clinical flow.
Handle sensitive or anxious conversations with composure and care.
Proactively follow up on treatment plans, recalls, and unscheduled appointments.
Client Relationship Management
Ensure a seamless and memorable patient journey, before, during, and after appointments.
Support patients in understanding treatment plans, booking follow-ups, and reviewing payment options.
Encourage referrals, testimonials, and online reviews.
Promote and explain membership plans, helping patients access the best value and care.
Technology & Systems
Use practice management software and communication tools confidently.
Maintain accurate digital records and ensure GDPR compliance.
Embrace training on new technology and systems as part of your growth.
Administrative & Operational Duties
Cash handling, payment processing, and end-of-day balancing.
Maintain a tidy, welcoming, and brand-aligned reception and lounge area.
Coordinate lab work, deliveries, and supplier liaison as needed.
Participate in practice meetings, open evenings, and marketing events.
Dental Nursing
The key roles of a dental nurse are to support the dental team, help ensure patient safety, and assist with the smooth running of the practice. Typical responsibilities include:
- Preparing the surgery by setting up instruments, materials, and equipment before each patient.
- Assisting the dentist during treatments by passing instruments, mixing materials, operating suction, and ensuring procedures run efficiently.
- Caring for patients by welcoming them, explaining procedures where appropriate, helping them feel comfortable, and providing reassurance.
- Infection prevention and control by cleaning and disinfecting equipment, sterilising instruments, and following cross-infection control protocols.
- Maintaining accurate records by updating patient notes and documenting treatments under the dentist's direction.
- Taking and processing dental radiographs (X-rays) if appropriately trained and qualified.
- Managing stock and equipment by checking supplies, ordering materials, and ensuring equipment is maintained and functioning correctly.
- Providing oral health education by reinforcing the dentist's advice on brushing, flossing, diet, and preventive care.
- Supporting medical emergencies by assisting with first aid and emergency procedures within the practice.
- Following legal and ethical standards by maintaining patient confidentiality, obtaining consent where appropriate, and complying with professional regulations.
