We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Trainee Wireless Communications Technician. You'll learn how to program, service and install all types of wireless technology equipment - radio communications, IP networking equipment, as well as gaining flexible and valuable skill sets within the IT and Telecom fields.
The role involves supporting the installation, maintenance, and repair of wireless communication systems, providing valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic environment.
Candidates should have a keen interest in electrical and telecommunication systems and be eager to learn from experienced professionals.
Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
The apprentice may start at any time prior to the starting date. The apprentice will learn and undertake the following:
- Operating, programming and servicing all types of radio communications and repeater systems
- Configuring and servicing mobile and portable radio equipment, wireless links and other hardware
- Assisting with the testing, repairing and maintenance of electronic systems
- Installing and uninstalling equipment on-site.
- Supporting engineers on site survey & commissioning site visits.
- Adhering to safe working practices, health and safety
- Liaising with other members of your team effectively
- Working with electrical wiring, cutting tools, multimeters and soldering electronic components
- Using power tools, lifting, carrying, working from heights, working undergound.
- File management, completing forms, documenting procedures
- Using a range of computer software
- Due to the working geographical area, some overnight stays in the UK will be required.
Skills
- Basic understanding of IP networks, fibre optics, and computer networking principles.
- Familiarity with telecommunication equipment installation and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams accurately.
- Competence in using hand tools for electrical or mechanical tasks.
- Knowledge of computer hardware components and basic equipment repair techniques.
- Electrical experience or background is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail when following technical instructions.
- Eagerness to learn new skills within telecommunications and network systems under guidance from senior technicians.
Training Course : Radio network technician (level 3)
Hours: Monday- Friday, working from 8.00am- 4:30pm. 30 minutes unpaid break. 40 hours a week
Apprenticeship Duration : 2 years

Pay: £16,640.00-£27,000.00 per year
