Kitchen Porter – 24 Hours per Week
Location: Parlour Café & Restaurant, Cardiff Garden Centre
Parlour Café & Restaurant, located within Cardiff Garden Centre, is looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our friendly team on a 24-hour per week contract.
This is a daytime role with no evening shifts, offering an excellent work-life balance and the opportunity for additional overtime during busy periods.
Working Hours
- 24 hours per week
- Daytime shifts worked on a rotating roster
- Overtime available when required
- You will be required to work weekends and bank holidays on a fair rota basis
- The café is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and Easter Sunday, so you will have these days off each year
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment efficiently.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and wash-up areas.
- Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment safely.
- Ensure work surfaces, floors, walls and storage areas are kept clean and hygienic.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste in accordance with food safety procedures.
- Assist with deliveries by checking, unpacking and storing stock correctly.
- Rotate stock following FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
- Support chefs with basic food preparation when required.
- Replenish cleaning materials and kitchen consumables.
- Follow all food hygiene, health and safety and company procedures.
- Report maintenance issues or equipment faults promptly.
- Assist with closing and cleaning duties at the end of service.
- Work efficiently during busy periods while maintaining attention to detail.
- Support other members of the team to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the Head Chef or Café Management.
