Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pupil Support Assistant to join our educational team.
This role involves providing tailored support to children with diverse needs, including those with autism and disabilities, to promote an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, parents, and specialised professionals to ensure each child's individual needs are met effectively.
Prior experience in special education or working with children with additional needs is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering personalised support programmes for pupils with special educational needs, including autism and disabilities
- Support children during classroom activities, ensuring their engagement and participation
- Provide one-on-one assistance to pupils requiring additional help, including toddlers and young children
- Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
- Support pupils with communication difficulties through effective communication techniques
- Help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all pupils
- Assist with daily routines such as meal times, breaks, and transitions between activities
- Collaborate with teaching staff and specialists to develop tailored support plans for individual pupils
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour as required
Experience
- Experience working with children in educational or care settings is preferred
- Knowledge of working with individuals with autism or special educational needs is advantageous
- Prior experience in toddler care or working with young children is beneficial
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff are essential
- Previous experience supporting children with disabilities or additional needs will be considered a plus
