Support Worker – Exempt Supported Accommodation

Salary: £25,000–£28,000 per annum (pro rata), depending on experience
Hours: 30–40 hours per week (4–5 days per week)

Independent Living Services SW provides high-quality exempt supported accommodation for adults who require support to maintain their tenancy, improve their independence and move towards a more stable future.
Our residents may have experience of homelessness, mental health challenges, substance misuse or other complex needs. We provide structured support within safe accommodation to help people rebuild their lives.
We're looking for an experienced, motivated and compassionate Support Worker to join our growing team.
The Role
This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll spend much of your time working directly with residents through one-to-one support sessions, house meetings and day-to-day engagement.
You'll also work closely with our Operations & Service Manager to help ensure the service remains organised, compliant and responsive to residents' needs.
No two days are the same.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver structured one-to-one support sessions with residents.
- Facilitate weekly house meetings and support groups.
- Support new resident admissions and planned move-ins.
- Assist with planned discharges and move-on planning.
- Complete support notes, risk assessments and resident records.
- Help residents access benefits, healthcare, employment, education and community services.
- Encourage residents to develop independent living skills.
- Carry out welfare checks and property visits.
- Support safeguarding and promote resident wellbeing.
- Assist with maintaining accurate documentation for exempt accommodation and Housing Benefit purposes.
- Work closely with the Operations & Service Manager to support the day-to-day running of the service.
- Participate in an on-call rota following induction and training.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting vulnerable adults.
- Has worked within supported accommodation, homelessness, recovery, mental health or a similar environment.
- Is organised and able to maintain accurate records.
- Communicates confidently and professionally.
- Can work independently and use initiative.
- Is calm under pressure and able to manage challenging situations professionally.
- Is committed to helping people achieve greater independence.
Desirable
- Experience within exempt supported accommodation.
- Knowledge of Housing Benefit supported housing.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
