Job Purpose
The Production Operative will support the day-to-day production activities at Belhaven Smokehouse, ensuring high-quality smoked food products are prepared, processed, and packed in line with company standards, food safety regulations, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, processing, smoking, and packing of food products
- Operate production machinery and equipment safely and efficiently
- Follow food hygiene, health & safety, and quality procedures at all times
- Carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving products
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of work areas, tools, and equipment
- Perform basic quality checks to ensure products meet specifications
- Accurately label and package products for dispatch
- Work as part of a team to meet daily production targets
- Report any faults, defects, or safety concerns to the supervisor
- Comply with company policies & procedures
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Good attention to detail and quality
- Willingness to follow strict food safety and hygiene standards
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
- Physically fit and capable of manual work
Desirable:
- Previous experience in food production or manufacturing
- Knowledge of food hygiene standards (training will be provided if required)
- Experience working with production machinery

Working Conditions
- Working in a food production and smokehouse environment

Training & Development
Full training will be provided, including food safety, health & safety, and role-specific processes, with opportunities to develop skills within the production team.
