Job Summary:
Responsible for leading the site Maintenance and Facilities function, ensuring the reliability, availability, and lifecycle management of all production equipment and infrastructure. This role delivers both proactive and reactive maintenance services through a multi-skilled team, supporting operational efficiency and business continuity.
Accountable for developing and managing a robust preventative maintenance programme, ensuring all activities are effectively planned, executed on time, and continuously improved. Drives operational performance by reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and delivering maintenance and engineering projects in line with business objectives and KPIs, while ensuring full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
Oversees the maintenance and engineering budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources and alignment with financial targets. Provides strong leadership to the Maintenance team, promoting technical excellence, standardised processes, and best practices.
Champions continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles by identifying opportunities for optimisation across equipment, processes, and ways of working, and implementing sustainable solutions through training, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Facilities Management
Lead all activities within the Maintenance Department to ensure alignment with the objectives of FMP and the wider CliniMed Group.
Manage and continuously improve the preventative maintenance (PM) system by ensuring:
- PM tasks are relevant, effective, and scheduled appropriately
- Tasks are completed on time
- New PM activities are introduced as required
- Maintenance requirements for new equipment are incorporated during commissioning
Develop and implement effective troubleshooting processes to minimise downtime, including:
- Defining standard operating conditions for machinery
- Identifying and analysing deviations from these conditions
- Determining root causes of issues
- Implementing engineering solutions to prevent recurrence
Prepare and manage the Maintenance budget, ensuring cost control through:
- Monitoring overtime
- Managing team performance
- Reducing machine downtime
- Controlling facility operation and renovation costs
- Managing preventative maintenance expenses
- Overseeing contractor and service costs
Optimise maintenance operations by:
- Improving efficiency and coordination across workstations
- Ensuring adherence to scheduled work times
Define departmental objectives and KPIs and monitor and report on performance against these targets.
Ensure routine calibration and maintenance of equipment, services, and facilities are completed to required standards.
Maintain buildings, plant, and facilities to ensure they are fit for purpose, providing proactive solutions where needed.
Oversee the introduction of new or replacement machinery and equipment, from specification through to installation, ensuring compliance with quality, environmental, and health & safety standards.
Manage the safe and compliant disposal of obsolete machinery and equipment.
Support the technical development and training of cleanroom operators and technicians.
Ensure compliance with labour laws, health & safety regulations, and workplace standards within the Maintenance function.
Foster strong cross-functional collaboration, promoting continuous improvement in equipment and facility performance.
People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Maintenance team to achieve objectives and drive continuous improvement.
- Set departmental KPIs and regularly review team and individual performance.
- Report on performance outcomes and identify improvement actions where required.
- Promote high standards and lead by example to ensure expected behaviours are understood and maintained.
- Deliver the People Strategy within the area of responsibility.
- Manage team structure and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Motivate and support the team to achieve operational excellence.
- Monitor task completion and maintain accurate performance records.
- Maintain and update company documentation, including training matrices, performance reviews, risk assessments, and return-to-work records
Personal Specifications:
- Degree in Manufacturing or Engineering (preferred), or HND, BTEC Professional Level Award, or equivalent NVQ qualification
- Extensive plant-level experience with a strong track record in people management
- Completion of a fully indentured apprenticeship in a mechanical, electrical, or electronic discipline
- Strong technical knowledge and practical understanding of engineering systems and processes
- Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles
- Experience managing maintenance budgets and controlling overhead costs
- Good understanding of manufacturing operations, procurement, and supply chain processes
- Knowledge of relevant standards and certifications, such as TS16949, IOSH/NEBOSH, and ISO 14001
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Effective written, verbal, and presentation abilities
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and follow-through
- Demonstrated capability in problem-solving, team building, planning, and decision-making
