About the Role
The i Paper is growing its social video team at a pivotal moment of expansion. We're looking for a creative, organised and fast-moving Social Video Producer to help us scale up distinctive, shareable short-form video across The i Paper's lifestyle and money journalism.
You'll work across The i Paper's newly established social sub-brand accounts, How I Live and Money Coach, sourcing, shooting and editing video for both channels with the aim of driving rapid follower growth. Pace is part of the job here - you'll have several videos on the go at once, so strong prioritisation skills go hand in hand with creative instinct.
Ideal candidates will have experience sourcing, filming, editing and publishing video in a fast-paced digital news environment, and preferably some experience working in a newsroom. You'll oversee projects start to finish - developing ideas, scripting, arranging shoots, filming, editing and publishing - working with both in-house journalists and external contributors, and stepping in front of the camera yourself to voice or present formats when needed.
This role suits a self-starter with great editorial instinct, strong storytelling skills, and experience creating standout short-form video at volume for digital platforms.
Main Responsibilities
- Produce and publish original short-form video formats for Money Coach and How I Live's social platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts) at high volume, turning around multiple videos per day.
- Work closely with the Senior Video Producer and Head of Social Video to develop creative ideas that grow reach and strengthen brand recognition.
- Manage the end-to-end production process, from concept and scripting to shooting, editing and publishing.
- Collaborate with editors, internal contributors and external talent to bring projects to life - and voice or present formats yourself where the content calls for it.
- Edit video content shot by contributors to ensure it aligns with The i Paper's editorial tone and visual style.
- Understand and build video treatments for shoots internally and externally
- Utilise organisational systems to streamline efficient workflows and understanding and following our Production Playbook
- Use performance data to analyse what's working and suggest practical, creative ways to improve and evolve formats.
Person Specification
- Experience of working in a fast-paced newsroom or digital publishing environment
- Sourcing, shooting and re-editing the best and most engaging short-form video content
- Having an expert eye for spotting the most interesting money and lifestyle stories across the web
- Comfortable voicing or presenting on camera as part of a format
- Helping to build strong How I Live and Money Coach brands across our video output, including social and search
- Confident producing at pace, with multiple videos in motion on any given day
- Confident editing in Premiere Pro
- Shoot experience essential
- Strong organisation and stakeholder management skills, able to juggle multiple projects and contributors at once
- Understanding of legal covenants such as the UK Editors' Code of Practice, media law, copyright law and editorial guidelines in the UK and globally
