The Breast Surgical Unit seeks to appoint a locum oncoplastic breast surgeon to supplement our team of 5 Consultant Surgeons who provide specialist elective oncoplastic breast surgery, and 4 providing specialist endocrine surgical services. The locum consultant will help to develop the elective oncoplastic breast surgery provision across the whole of Teesside, working collaboratively with colleagues in South Tees under the joint group structure of executives leading the Trusts. This post holder will further bolster the significant inroads that have already been achieved in improving both the breast screening services and oncoplastic breast service provided by the Trust and in future throughout Teesside. This post is available on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
The successful candidate must have had specialist training in oncoplastic breast surgery including tissue displacement, mammoplasty, mastopexy, adipofascial flaps, implant based reconstruction, latissimus dorsi reconstruction and lipomodelling. There will be the opportunity to work with Consultant Plastic Surgeon colleagues for free flap surgery. Experience of working with screen detected cancers is also essential. A Fellowship in oncoplastic breast surgery would be advantageous.
