We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our laboratory team. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, a practical and mechanical mindset, and the ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting combustibility testing on powders, liquids, gases, and vapours across a wide range of industrial sectors, ensuring accurate data generation and high laboratory standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct combustibility testing of client samples (powders, liquids, gases, and vapours)
- Sample booking and documentation
- Sample preparation in accordance with laboratory procedures
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Technical report writing
- Laboratory cleaning and maintenance of a safe working environment
- Handling hazardous materials using appropriate PPE
- Equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration
- Identifying technical issues and implementing practical solutions
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to data production
- Effective team player with good communication skills
- High standards of cleanliness and organisation
- Ability and willingness to adhere strictly to Health & Safety regulations
- Mechanically minded with strong practical problem-solving skills
- Physically capable of performing laboratory-based manual tasks
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- A Level or BSc (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline
- Familiarity with ISO 17025, GLP, or other recognised quality standards
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment
- Knowledge of mechanical systems with the ability to repair or replace components where required
