We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated Maintenance Person to join our family at St Pauls Care Centre. About The Role
About the role:

£14 to £14.50 per hour, depending on experience (£100 a month on-call allowance)

40 hours per week
-
8.00am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (flexibility required for on call service)

Painting and decorating, general joinery, basic electrics and basic plumbing
-
Ensure that all mechanical and non-mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment on the premises is maintained and in safe and clean working order, carrying out all necessary and mandatory checks on all fire and lighting equipment as well as other facilities

Keep up to date with new developments and required maintenance checks for nursing homes
-
Check the maintenance books on all floors daily and action immediately

Know the location of fuse boxes, main stopcocks etc and how to turn off services if required

Check fire alarm systems weekly, ensuring all information is recorded

Check emergency lighting and water temperatures monthly, ensuring all information is recorded

Ensure fire appliances are checked and serviced regularly

Check all fire doors monthly and record any issues

Carry out quarterly fire drills and ensure staff follow fire evacuation procedures and assist with updating fire evacuation procedures

Check all electric lights and replace bulbs as necessary

Make sure the Nurse Call System is in good working order at all times by carrying out regular checks and documenting this

Check all pressure relieving mattresses monthly to ensure they are functioning correctly. Report to Home Manager if there are any issues

Check all beds and bed controls on a monthly basis and ensure they are working correctly. Report to Home Manager if there are any issues

Redecorate all rooms and corridors as requested by the Home Manager

Required Criteria

The right to live and work in the UK

A clean, valid Driving Licence
- Skilled in painting and decorating, basic electrics and basic plumbing

Knowledge of Health and Safety and Fire Safety

Understanding of general maintenance work / DIY and experience of dealing with minor repairs

Good communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team

Good health and fitness, the post involves lifting and requires physical stamina
