The Department of Greek and Latin at UCL is one of the premier Classics departments in the world. It consists of almost twenty academic, teaching and research staff, 150–200 undergraduate students, about 50 postgraduate students (taught and research) as well as a number of affiliate students from outside the UK.
The Department offers one main BA degree programme that has three different pathways for students to choose from; and it offers five additional joint undergraduate programmes and two MA programmes, most of which are interdisciplinary and shared across a number of UCL departments.
The Department of Greek and Latin at UCL are looking to make an appointment for a part-time Lecturer (Teaching) in Sanskrit to commence from 13th September 2026.
The successful applicant will be expected to maintain and enhance the academic standing of UCL and to lecture, tutor and examine students to a high academic standard.
- To teach Sanskrit, i.e. to provide lectures, seminars, classes and advisory services, to UCL students as necessary.
- To create new module material where necessary.
- To examine students, including examining students of other institutions when necessary.
- To supervise undergraduate dissertations where necessary

You should have completed a PhD in a relevant area and have the ability to teach students to a high academic standard. In addition to this, you should have excellent communication skills, be able to work well independently and as part of a team and be flexible and responsive, particularly to the changing education environment.
