Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Branch Manager to lead our busy tool and plant hire depot in Nottingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall performance, profitability, and daily operations of the branch, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient equipment management, and strong team leadership.
This role requires someone with strong operational, sales, and people management skills, ideally with experience in the tool hire, plant hire, construction supply, or equipment rental industry.
Key Responsibilities Branch Operations
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Nottingham branch.
- Ensure the branch runs efficiently, safely, and profitably.
- Maintain high standards of equipment availability, maintenance, and presentation.
- Oversee stock control and fleet management.
Sales & Business Development
- Drive branch sales growth and profitability.
- Build strong relationships with local contractors, builders, and trade customers.
- Identify opportunities to develop new business accounts.
- Work with the management team to achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and develop the branch team.
- Manage staff scheduling, performance, and training.
- Foster a positive, safety-first working environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
Customer Service
- Ensure all customers receive excellent service and technical advice.
- Handle escalated customer issues professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain strong relationships with key trade customers and accounts.
Health & Safety
- Ensure the branch operates in compliance with health & safety regulations.
- Promote safe handling, testing, and maintenance of equipment.
- Maintain accurate records for inspections, servicing, and compliance.
Financial Management
- Manage branch budgets, costs, and profitability.
- Monitor KPIs including utilisation, revenue, and margin.
- Ensure accurate invoicing and control of credit accounts.
RequirementsEssential
- Experience in tool hire, plant hire, construction supply, or equipment rental.
- Proven management or supervisory experience.
- Strong sales and customer relationship skills.
- Good commercial awareness and business management skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Knowledge of construction equipment and plant machinery.
- Experience managing hire fleets and asset utilisation.
- Familiarity with hire management software systems.

Pay: £24,420.00-£40,000.00 per year
