Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join our busy hospitality team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of our kitchen environment, ensuring smooth daily operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience within a professional culinary setting, supporting chefs and kitchen staff with essential duties. Prior experience in food service or hospitality is advantageous but not mandatory, as full training will be provided.
We welcome candidates who have their own vehicle, and we offer mileage reimbursement to support travel costs. Alternatively, we are also looking for candidates who can easily reach our workplace, and we can assist with reasonable travel expenses, including tickets or mileage where applicable.
We provide accommodation options for both temporary and permanent staff members, helping our team have a comfortable and secure place to stay while working with us.
Duties
- Wash, clean, and sanitise dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to uphold hygiene standards.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under the supervision of chefs or kitchen managers.
- Support the organisation and storage of ingredients and supplies in designated areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas throughout shifts.
- Help with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed efficiently to facilitate smooth kitchen operations.
- Support serving staff during busy periods by assisting with clearing tables or delivering items when required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation and cooking techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with kitchen safety and hygiene standards is advantageous.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Willingness to work as part of a team and support colleagues as needed.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings or weekends if required.
- Reliable transport arrangements or the ability to commute easily to the workplace.
