Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Lunchtime Support Assistant to join our team and provide essential support during the school lunch period. The successful candidate will work closely with children, including those with special educational needs, to ensure a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment. Responsibilities
- Supervising children during lunchtime, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times
- Assisting children with behavioural or sensory challenges, including those with autism or special educational needs
- Supporting children with their meals, encouraging good manners and independence
- Facilitating social interactions and promoting inclusive play among pupils
- Providing emotional support and mentoring to children who may require additional guidance
- Assisting teaching staff with behaviour management and classroom organisation when necessary
- Engaging in positive communication with pupils, staff, and parents as required
- Maintaining a clean and safe dining environment in accordance with health and safety guidelines
Experience
- Previous experience working with children, preferably within a school or educational setting
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or special educational needs is highly desirable
- Knowledge of working with children on the autism spectrum or those requiring additional behavioural support is advantageous
- Teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience will be considered beneficial
- Excellent communication skills are essential for fostering positive relationships with pupils and staff
- A compassionate approach combined with patience and organisational skills will ensure success in this role
