Job Summary
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver tramper to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating flatbed and Curtainsider’s trailers on long-distance journeys, primarily focusing on delivering goods efficiently and safely across various locations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers to utilise their skills in a dynamic environment, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining high safety standards.
Duties
- Operate flatbed HGV Class 1 lorries in accordance with legal and company regulations
- Conduct pre-journey safety checks and ensure vehicle compliance before departure
- Deliver goods to designated locations, adhering to scheduled timelines
- Secure cargo properly using appropriate methods to prevent movement during transit
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and logs
- Maintain communication with the logistics team regarding delivery progress and any issues encountered
- Follow all road safety laws and company policies during driving operations
- Assist with loading and unloading when required, ensuring safe handling of goods
- Conduct post-trip inspections and report any vehicle defects or incidents promptly
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence with relevant driving experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, preferably with flatbed operations and delivery routes
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and compliance standards
- Ability to operate flatbed lorries safely and efficiently under varying conditions
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in documentation and cargo securing procedures
- Flexibility to undertake long-distance journeys, including overnight stays if necessary
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients and team members
- A clean driving record with no serious endorsements or convictions related to driving offences
