Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for residents, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals tailored to residents' dietary requirements and preferences
- Plan menus in accordance with dietary guidelines and individual needs
- Ensure all food is prepared in line with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Serve meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner
- Record food temperatures and maintain accurate documentation of food safety procedures
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure meal times are well-organised and residents’ needs are met
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen roles, preferably within a care home or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Experience in meal preparation for diverse dietary requirements, including special diets or allergies
- Previous restaurant or catering experience is desirable but not essential
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Good communication skills and a friendly, professional attitude
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
