Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable 3.5t Driver & FLT Operator to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating forklift trucks and delivery vehicles within our warehouse and distribution centre. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent organisational skills, mechanical aptitude, and experience in materials handling. Duties
- Safely operate a 3.5-tonne delivery vehicle and forklift truck (FLT) to transport goods within the warehouse and to external locations
- Load and unload materials, ensuring accurate placement and securement of items
- Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed to ensure operational safety and efficiency
- Handle materials with care, adhering to health and safety regulations during all handling activities
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any faults or issues promptly
- Maintain a clean, organised work environment to promote safety and productivity
Qualifications
- Valid UK driving licence with a recognised 3.5t licence (cat B)
- Valid forklift truck licence (FLT) recognised by the relevant authorities
- Proven experience in materials handling, shipping & receiving, or similar roles within a warehouse environment
- Mechanical knowledge for equipment repair and troubleshooting
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently, including lifting loads up to 25kg or more
- Basic mathematical skills for inventory counts and measurements
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Prior experience operating forklift trucks in a busy warehouse setting is desirable
