About the Post:
The successful candidate will be required to be available outside of services normal working hours as part of a standby rota to respond to out of hours service needs. A standardised standby payment will be made in respect of these duties.
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and qualified Advanced Social Work Practitioner to join our dedicated Children’s Emergency Duty Team.
You will have the confidence and skills to manage complex and high-risk children’s safeguarding situations, working closely with Partner Agencies and taking a lead role in decision making where appropriate. You will have a good understanding of safeguarding procedures and be experienced in holding Strategy Meetings and progressing S47 investigations. You will be skilled in engaging parents and carers and in completing direct work with children, to diffuse crisis situations and develop safety plans. You will have knowledge of the Signs of Safety framework and will be able to identify and utilise family networks to keep children safe.
We are looking for social workers who can work autonomously, manage competing demands, and work under pressure without the on-site support of their line manager. You will be confident in your decision making and risk assessment skills, and be able to provide advice, guidance and challenge to colleagues within Social Care and across agencies.
The team operate outside of normal office hours covering all urgent Social Work needs for Children and families in Barnsley. The team work to a 4 week rolling rota pattern and are operational from 4.30pm to 8.30am Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and from 4.30pm on Friday through to Monday at 8.30am. You will work alongside a colleague until midnight each evening and then the service reverts to one member of the team being on call between 1am and 8.30am.
As an experienced Social Worker, you will be able to evidence continued professional development, have a minimum of five years post qualifying experience demonstrate enhanced theoretical, legislative and research knowledge.
