Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified level 2/3 Waking Night Care Assistant to provide compassionate support and assistance during overnight hours within a care home environment. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents throughout the night. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring care, working within a supportive and professional team.
Duties
- Monitor residents’ wellbeing throughout the night, responding promptly to any needs or emergencies
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as toileting, mobility, and hygiene as required
- Follow individual care plans to deliver tailored support and ensure residents’ needs are met effectively
- Maintain accurate records of any incidents or observations during your shift
- Ensure the safety and security of the care environment by adhering to health and safety protocols
- Support with light domestic duties such as tidying communal areas and preparing refreshments if needed
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and healthcare professionals regarding residents’ conditions and any concerns
Skills
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Able to communicate clearly with elderly residents, including those with dementia
- Calm, reassuring manner and strong interpersonal skills required
- Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining high standards of care.
- Basic IT skills for recording information accurately using electronic systems
- Strong organisational skills to follow care plans meticulously and manage time efficiently during shifts
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in caring for others
- A minimum of 12 months’ care experience is required, along with an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
