Oz UK is a Chippenham based, privately owned pharmaceutical R & D company specialising in inhalation drug-delivery technologies, including formulation development, device testing and laboratory automation. Founded in 2015 Oz-UK works with global pharmaceutical clients across the UK, Europe, America and Australia
Due to continued growth and increasing experimental workload, Oz UK are recruiting a Scientist whose skills we can develop to support our aerosol research work. We are open to considering either an entry-level Scientist (such as a college leaver, graduate or career changer), or a candidate looking to build on current aerosol testing experience, with a strong interest in applied pharmaceutical research.
About the role:
This role supports the delivery of client experimental programmes by performing laboratory experiments, data collection and sample preparation under the guidance of experienced Scientists, Senior Scientist & Team Leads.
This role is ideal for an early-career scientist looking to build industrial laboratory experience in a regulated, client-facing environment.
We are looking for a candidate who will:
- Execute laboratory and experimental work in accordance with approved protocols
- Support formulation preparation, analytical testing and sample handling
- Accurately collect, record and store data ensuring clear accurate laboratory records
- Assist senior scientists with preparation of reports and documentation
- Support data analysis and preparation of figures and tables
- Report deviations, issues or equipment problems promptly
- Work collaboratively with scientists, senior scientists and technicians
- Follow project direction and timelines
To be successful in this role, it is essential you have:
- A’ Level/equivalent level in a science subject or BSc in a science subject
- An interest in, or experience of working in a laboratory environment (academic or industrial)
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
- Ability to follow protocols and work accurately
- Willingness to learn and develop new laboratory techniques
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
You will ideally have:
- Experience of working in a laboratory environment (Academic or industrial)
Whilst not essential, we would also love to hear from candidates with experience in pharmaceutical, inhalation or aerosol-related testing and research. We would expect an experienced candidate to hold either a BSc in a relevant scientific discipline or have gained equivalent knowledge and skills through hands-on experience in the field. In addition, experienced candidates should have a working knowledge of UPLC or HPLC systems, analytical techniques (e.g. chromatography, spectroscopy) and experience working under GLP or similar quality systems.
