Deputy General Manager
Maidstone, Kent
£36,000 - £38,000 + Benefits
Are you ready to step beyond fitness management and become a key leader within a premium health and wellness business?
We're looking for an ambitious Deputy General Manager to help lead a thriving members' club that combines fitness, wellness, hospitality and community under one roof.
This role is ideal for someone who has built their career within fitness, health clubs or leisure and is now ready for broader operational responsibility. You'll work directly alongside the General Manager, helping to lead the entire business while developing the skills and experience needed to progress into a future General Manager position.
This is not a role where you'll spend your day behind a desk. You'll be a visible leader, building relationships with members, developing your team and ensuring every area of the club delivers an exceptional experience.
The Opportunity
This is a premium environment where members come to train, recover, socialise and spend time. From the gym floor and studios through to the spa, café, lounge and padel courts, every part of the member journey matters.
As Deputy General Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping that experience while helping drive commercial performance, team engagement and operational excellence.
You'll continue to utilise your fitness expertise, spending part of your day supporting members, coaching, driving PT performance and leading the fitness team, whilst also taking ownership of wider club operations.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Supporting the General Manager in the overall leadership and performance of the club.
Leading and developing a high-performing team across multiple departments.
Driving member satisfaction, retention and engagement.
Creating a positive, energetic culture for both members and colleagues.
Leading the fitness operation and maximising Personal Training performance.
Supporting the commercial success of the business through strong operational management.
Acting as a key holder and taking responsibility for opening and closing the club.
Maintaining exceptional standards across fitness, wellness and hospitality areas.
Managing daily operational challenges and ensuring a seamless member experience.
Becoming a recognised leader within the club community.
About You
You may currently be a Fitness Manager, Fitness Experience Manager, Operations Manager, Assistant Club Manager or Duty Manager looking for your next challenge.
You'll bring:
Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.
Experience leading teams within a health club, fitness or leisure environment.
A genuine passion for member experience and community building.
Strong commercial awareness and the ability to drive performance.
Confidence managing people and making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
A hands-on leadership style and willingness to lead from the front.
Ambition to progress into a General Manager role in the future.
Why Join?
£36,000 - £38,000 salary.
Join a growing premium health and wellness business.
Work alongside an experienced General Manager.
Develop multi-department leadership experience.
Build your career within a business that values progression.
Become part of a community-focused environment where you can genuinely make an impact.
If you're an ambitious fitness professional looking to take the next step towards General Management, we'd love to hear from you.
