SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Preston
Contract Type: Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities Available
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30am - 3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: £14.25– £17.35 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
We are currently recruiting for dedicated, resilient, and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of supportive and inclusive primary schools in the Preston area. These roles offer both full-time and part-time opportunities and are ideal for candidates who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
The successful candidates will support pupils with SEN, helping them access learning, develop socially and emotionally, and achieve their full potential within a mainstream school environment.
The Role:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Support pupils to access learning activities adapted to their individual needs
- Implement behaviour support plans and use de-escalation strategies effectively
- Support emotional regulation, communication, and social development
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
- Maintain a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to reviews, EHCP targets, and support plans
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEN (essential)
- Experience within schools or alternative provision settings (preferred)
- Relevant childcare or teaching assistant qualifications (highly desirable)
- Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to apply)
- Full and up-to-date CV
- Ability to provide two professional references
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
