James Ray are recruiting on behalf of a well established law firm based in Hull who have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Disputes Associate Solicitor to join their progressive department.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a varied and interesting caseload of commercial disputes within a supportive and collaborative team environment. The role offers strong potential for development and progression for a candidate looking to strengthen their technical expertise and further build experience in commercial litigation.
The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a team, gaining experience across a range of commercial dispute matters while also supporting senior solicitors on more complex cases.
The role:
- Advising, representing and supporting clients across a range of commercial dispute matters, including contractual liability, property disputes, breach of directors’ duties, trespass and nuisance
- Communicating effectively with clients and all relevant third parties, including opponents, the Court and Counsel
- Working within an insurance-funded litigation environment, including consideration of policy coverage and providing claims handling support to insurers
- Managing claims within the relevant legal frameworks, including civil courts, employment tribunals, criminal courts and regulatory proceedings
- Supporting the wider business in delivering accurate, timely and effective legal services across employment and dispute resolution matters
- Providing a high-quality, client-focused service in line with organisational plans and targets
- Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements, including those of the SRA and Law Society of England and Wales
- Maintaining and developing professional competencies and continuing professional development (CPD) to ensure a high standard of client service
- Delegating and supervising work appropriately to paralegals, trainees, secretaries and support staff
The candidate:
The ideal candidate will have general Commercial Disputes experience and will also:
- Be a qualified Solicitor or equivalent
Desirable experience includes:
- Exposure to insurance litigation and an understanding of policy-related issues in a litigation context
- Previous experience using case management systems in a legal environment
- Have experience managing a varied caseload
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience within Commercial Disputes
- Have experience working within a busy, reputable legal team in a relevant practice area
- Be proficient in IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, case management systems (ideally Salesforce) and digital dictation software
- Be able to work independently using initiative and autonomy, while also contributing effectively as part of a team
