Laila's Fine Foods are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join our team. In this key role, you will provide timely and accurate cost information to support management decision-making, drive operational efficiencies, and contribute to the overall financial health and profitability of our growing food manufacturing business.
Main Duties:
- Prepare, record, and analyse standard costings for our products
- Monitor and control company production costs, including identifying variances and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
- Conduct performance and productivity analysis across manufacturing operations
- Analyse financial performance and contribute to medium- and long-term business planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Provide commercial feedback and support to all departments and the management team to aid informed financial and operational decisions
- Ensure spending remains in line with budgets and advise on the financial implications of business decisions
- Offer professional judgment on cost-related matters and recommend ways to improve business performance and efficiency
- Develop a strong understanding of our internal information technology systems, act as a champion for the software, train users, and help maintain and improve company systems
- Monitor and evaluate purchasing and costing information systems, suggesting improvements where needed
Skills and Experience:
- CIMA qualified (or working towards with significant progress)
- At least 3 years’ relevant professional experience in management or cost accountancy, preferably within food manufacturing or a similar industry
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear commercial insights
- Proficiency in accounting software and IT systems (experience with Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar)
- Excellent attention to detail combined with strong problem-solving abilities
- Good project management skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to work effectively with colleagues at all levels, including non-finance staff
- Experience in job costing or standard costing is highly desirable
To be successful in this role, you should hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related subject.
