Job description:
Maplyn Care Services Ltd has been supporting people with complex mental health needs since 2008.
We provide modern, single-occupancy apartments with 24-hour on-site support for individuals who require enhanced accommodation as part of their aftercare and recovery journey.
We work with people often considered “hard to place,” offering safe, contemporary homes alongside continuous, compassionate support. Our aim is to promote independence while ensuring the right care is always available.
Our philosophy is simple but powerful: “Every interaction is a potential intervention.”
This belief underpins everything we do — every conversation, check-in, or moment of reassurance is an opportunity to support recovery, dignity and wellbeing.
The Role
We are currently looking for a Senior Support Worker to join our accommodation-based service in Hereford, providing 24/7 housing and support for vulnerable adults with long-term mental health difficulties.
You will be a key point of contact for residents during your shift, offering calm, non-judgemental support and ensuring the safety and security of the service. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support staff in creating and reviewing risk assessments, risk management plans and personalised recovery support plans.
- Assess new service users and coordinate admissions in partnership with healthcare professionals and external agencies.
- Deliver person-centred support that promotes independence, recovery and positive outcomes.
- Conduct regular key-working sessions focused on mental health awareness, resilience, medication management and self-management strategies.
- Support service users in developing advance statements and future planning documents.
- Plan, organise and lead activities, events and wellbeing programmes.
- Provide supervision, guidance and performance support to team members, including relief staff.
- Contribute to evidence-based reporting and outcome monitoring for commissioners and stakeholders.
- Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, security and safeguarding.
- Ensure all services are delivered in line with organisational values, policies, legislation and contractual requirements.
Demonstrating patience, empathy and respect towards residents is essential.
Training and Development
We offer tailored training including:
- Health & Safety
- Fire Safety
- Emergency First Aid
- Trauma Informed Supportive Intervention Skills
These form part of a structured training pathway designed to support your professional development and career progression within Maplyn.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you are:

- Motivated and willing to learn and reflect
- Confident using your judgement in challenging situations
- Committed to supporting recovery and independence
Previous experience in a care or support setting is desirable but not essential — we value the right attitude just as much as experience.

- Investment in your Enhanced DBS (if required)
