Have you been in a job where you’ve been overseeing or assisting in the running of a building? How about doing it in an environment that could improve the lives of marginalised individuals and communities?
About the organisation
The Westcourt Centre is based in Barrack Street, Belfast 12, on the site of a former Edmund Rice Christian Brothers School. In keeping with the Edmund Rice tradition of supporting those who are marginalised, the site now hosts six separate charitable organisations and educational services. These groups work across a range of social issues, including; young people who are not attending mainstream schools, people experiencing homelessness, those struggling with issues of alcohol and drug dependency, and those with poor mental health. It welcomes all sections of the community regardless of religious belief, social or ethnic background, disability, gender or political persuasion.
The site encompasses three buildings spanning 16,000 square metres. It currently houses eight units, all fully occupied every day, and two spaces that are used on an ad hoc basis.
About the job
You will effectively be looking after the daily operations of the Westcourt Centre, including security, health and safety, and the safeguarding of all, particularly children and vulnerable adults on site. This will include the general care, repair, maintenance and development of the Westcourt Centre buildings and site. You will be required to use your own initiative, as well as supervise the Westcourt Centre’s caretaker and deal with third-party suppliers.
You will also serve as the point of contact for tenants, licensees, keyholders and other users of the Westcourt Centre.
Your previous experience will have provided you with the knowledge and skills to take ownership of the centre's operations, be proactive in its maintenance, and ensure the security of all persons using the Westcourt Centre.
The resident groups on-site are long-standing. However, on occasions, a unit will become vacant, and you may be required to help source a suitable tenant.
