Purpose of the Position
Reporting to the General Manager, the Supply Chain Manager will lead the transformation of the Group's supply chain function, ensuring materials, inventory and supplier performance support world-class operational delivery. This role is central to improving manufacturing performance, increasing operational efficiency and enabling continued business growth.
You will be responsible for supplier performance, inventory optimisation, production support and continuous improvement across the supply chain function. This is a hands-on leadership position, requiring an individual who leads from the front, demonstrates strong problem-solving capability and instils a Right First Time mentality throughout the department.
Success in this role is ultimately measured by ensuring production never stops due to material shortages and that when our customers win, we win.
You will be based on-site position at our Bala, North Wales facility.
Applicants should currently reside within approximately one hour of Bala (i.e. Wrexham, Oswestry, Shrewsbury, Chester, Ruthin)

Working week is 39 hours from Monday to Thursday:
06.15 to 16.30 or 07.15 to 17.30
Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain & Procurement
- Conduct regular reviews of outstanding purchase orders to ensure production and customer demand are maintained, with a strong focus on Quality and On-Time Delivery (OTD).
- Source and procure component parts to reduce manufacturing costs whilst maintaining quality and supplier performance.
- Oversee supplier conformance to agreed delivery schedules and identify alternative sourcing where required.
- Review supplier performance and manage supplier relationships to maximise stock turn, delivery performance and quality.
- Challenge supplier performance where necessary and drive continuous improvement across the supply base.
Inventory & Stores Management
- Manage inventory to improve stock turn whilst reducing capital employed.
- Liaise with internal teams to establish and maintain effective Min/Max settings and Kanban replenishment systems.
- Ensure stock condition, organisation and stores layout support efficient line-side picking, quality, accuracy and delivery performance.
- Maintain effective inventory control processes to support production and customer requirements.
Production Support
- Ensure all production material requirements are achieved to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
- Deliver customer orders On Time In Full (OTIF) through effective supply chain planning and execution.
- Support production planning activities and provide accurate reporting to improve operational visibility.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production and Operations teams to ensure supply chain activities fully support manufacturing objectives.
Continuous Improvement
- Work collaboratively with Engineering teams to develop and implement systems and processes that improve production efficiency through LEAN manufacturing principles.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve operational performance, quality and productivity.
- Support ERP and systems development to reduce manual administration and improve process control.
- Promote data-driven decision making through effective reporting, trend analysis and performance monitoring.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, train, mentor and supervise the Supply Chain and Stores team to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and maximise operational performance.
- Set departmental objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), regularly reviewing progress and performance.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback and development support to team members.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and maintain a safe working environment.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and Right First Time throughout the department.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience within a Supply Chain, Engineering or Production environment.
- A hands-on, proactive approach with a genuine desire to develop both the role and the department.
- Strong knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles and quality control methodologies.
- A proven track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives that deliver measurable operational efficiencies.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong engineering knowledge and understanding, with the ability to work confidently alongside production and engineering teams.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and make informed operational decisions.
- Confidence to challenge existing practices and drive positive change where required.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, multitask and work effectively under pressure.
- A genuine interest in science, engineering, manufacturing and technology.
Core Deliverables
The successful Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for delivering:
- Effective sourcing and procurement of component parts to reduce manufacturing costs.
- Consistently improving supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance.
- Increasing inventory turns whilst reducing working capital through effective inventory management.
- Reducing manufacturing downtime caused by material shortages.
- Delivering continuous improvement initiatives that generate measurable operational efficiencies.
- Developing ERP systems and business processes to reduce manual administration.
- Delivering effective production planning and reporting that supports operational performance.
