About the Role
As a Complex Care Healthcare Assistant, you will provide high-quality support to a young person within their family home, promoting safety, dignity, independence and wellbeing.
You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team and receive ongoing clinical support and supervision.
Clinical Skills Required
Experience in the following areas is desirable:
- Gastrostomy (PEG) care and feeding
- Epilepsy awareness and seizure management
- Medication administration
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Moving and Handling
Full client-specific competency training will be provided before working independently.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective and person-centred care within the family home.
- Support with all aspects of personal care where required.
- Administer medication in accordance with care plans and company policies.
- Provide gastrostomy feeding and care in line with training and competency assessments.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to seizure activity following the individual's epilepsy management plan.
- Complete accurate daily records and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with family members and the wider healthcare team.
- Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, confidentiality and professionalism.
- Attend mandatory training and competency assessments as required.
Shift Pattern
Monday to Friday:
- 7:00am – 9:00am
- 5:00pm – 8:00pm
Total: 25 hours per week
No weekend working required.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 6 months' experience in a healthcare or support worker role.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient and reliable approach to care.
- Ability to commit to the advertised shift pattern.
- Willingness to undertake specialist training and competency assessments.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience supporting individuals with complex healthcare needs.
Competency in:
- Gastrostomy care
- Epilepsy management
- Medication administration
- Basic Life Support
- Moving and Handling
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
