About the role
We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused individual to join our Security Access Team as an apprentice based in our busy Card Office. Beginning in August 2026, you’ll support the delivery of access services across the university, working with students, staff, contractors, and visitors, while learning how to manage systems, data, and processes that keep our campus secure and accessible.
Alongside your role, you will complete a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship, with dedicated training, mentoring, and one day per week for off-the-job learning at City College.
As part of your role, you’ll be responsible for carrying out the following:
- Provide a flexible administrative, frontline, and reception service within the Card Office
- Process and issue university cards, access permissions, and related correspondence and documentation
- Maintain accurate data using systems such as the University Card Management system and Salto access control database
- Produce standard documents, reports, and records, and support the organisation of meetings, visits, and activities
- Assist with access control systems, including updates, basic diagnostics, fault-finding, and supporting site visits and surveys

It’s a great opportunity for someone with a positive attitude who is eager to learn and start a career in a professional services setting.
You will also need to have GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4 (or equivalent).
