Railway Depot, Blairgowrie
You will be expected to deal with the day to day running of Railway Road Depot, Blairgowrie, allocating and co‑ordinating jobs to operational staff. The ability to meet your own and team deadlines is vital. Where necessary, you will become directly involved with the performance of a wide range of Environment Services functions, including responsibility for overseeing yard issues to ensure the smooth and safe working of council staff, vehicles, plant, equipment, and Contractors carrying out redevelopment work within the site.
You will ensure that work is undertaken, carried out and completed to the required quality standards, according to instructions received, and that safe working practises are adopted in accordance with guidance given, monitoring this to ensure compliance.
Monitoring of all operational elements in connection with The Environment Service functions of the service, together with all related correspondence.
You will be required to cover operational driving duties in the case of staff shortages.
You must be able to carry out the physical demands of the post.
You must be able to complete any computer/paperwork associated with the post, e.g. timesheets, work schedules and maintenance records etc.
Knowledge of computers/smartphones would also be beneficial.
Current working hours are 44 per week, a proportion of which are recognised as contractual overtime.
Monday – Thursday:
06.30 – 17.00 (Overtime paid from 15.15 – 17.00 each day) please note, this includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Friday:
06.30 – 10.30 (Overtime paid from 09.30 – 10.30)

The ability to undertake both COSHH and Risk assessments (IOSH) is essential.
You must be a team player who understands the importance of good morale and proactively purses good professional relationships with colleagues.
A Cat C driving licence is essential. You also must hold a current Digital Tachograph Card and a current CPC Driver Card.
You must have a valid UK Cat C driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
To be successful, you must hold a current Cat C Driving Licence, CPC Card and a Digital Tachograph Card.
You will be aware of Road Transport Regulations, you will be able to carry out the physical demands of the job, and as a representative of the Council, you will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public as well as colleagues.
You will bring a positive energy and have the ability to work well as part of a team. You will be aware of Health & Safety legislation, you will have effective visual skills with the ability to ensure the safety of other road users and pedestrians, you will have the ability to carry out vehicle inspections, ensuring that your vehicle is safe to drive and meets all legal requirements. You will have the ability to operate and to navigate in and around the Perth & Kinross area.
