Summary
The Positive Impact Academy are seeking to appoint an Education Mentor (Southam) who will be required to deliver intensive work focused around English, Maths, and pre-employment pastoral and mentoring support to young people aged 12-16.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to nurture and support young people whilst challenging and encouraging them to achieve sustainable education and training. You must have previous experience in supporting young people with learning disabilities or students that show challenging behaviour in a coaching and mentoring capacity.
Our partnership with the Stowe Valley Multi Academy Trust has presented an exciting opportunity to provide targeted young people with a personalised education programme. Our primary aim is to develop the skills of all students to the full, enabling them to live and work as independently as possible in society.
Roles & Responsibilities
● Effectively engage with young participants and develop trust-based, intensive relationships to provide an appropriate level of support.
● Deliver maths, english and a range of vocational qualifications to young people within the setting.
● Apply a mix of holistic support and mentoring techniques to help build relationships with the young people.
● Support the young people in actively addressing barriers to education, setting clear goals, short and medium term action plans consistent with engaging in education.
● Regularly review progress and challenges with each young person.
● Manage Health and Safety and Data Protection to legal standards.
● Communicate with the partner agency and other relevant partners to explore and access existing support to address the identified support needs of individual young people.
● Maintain an up to date record of individual action planning and support provided.
● Effectively safeguard young people within the setting.
Qualifications & Person Specification
Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications Desirable (D) + Essential (E)
GCSE English C or above (or equivalent) E
GCSE Maths C or above (or equivalent) E
Able to work with children & young people with learning disabilities E
Be able to manage challenging and inappropriate behaviour effectively E
Level 3 Award in Education & Training D
Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement D
Able to demonstrate and role model behaviours and experience in E motivating others
Experience in supporting young people in small groups E
Demonstrable ability to appropriately apply mentoring and coaching E techniques within a solution led approach to the worker/participant relationship
Respects people, recognises different needs and expectations and E challenges
Works to the highest standards, demonstrating resistance to pressure and E retaining professional focus and behaviour
Demonstrates a commitment to continuously improve own knowledge, E skills and performance
Hold a full valid UK driving licence and have access to own car D
Experience of safeguarding young people E
Be able to show extreme patience whilst working with pupils that show E challenging behaviours, demonstrating calm behaviours

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 37.5 per week
Pay: £15,750.00-£16,500.00 per year
