Externiture is looking for a practical, self-starting, and reliable Cleaning and Maintenance Technician to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and cleaning bus stops and bus shelter infrastructure across Hertfordshire. Your daily tasks will include cleaning, maintenance, deploying temporary bus stops for roadworks, and occasional timetable posting.
Most days will follow a planned schedule, but there will be times when same-day requests come in from our clients, so flexibility is key. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditions, is independent, and takes pride in keeping public spaces clean and functional.
You will be required to park your work vehicle safely at your home address.
Key Responsibilities
- Cleaning and maintaining bus stops and shelters.
- Deploying temporary bus stops during roadworks.
- Posting bus timetables several times a year.
- Reporting any defects or issues observed at bus stops.
- Supporting the coordination team with updates and feedback.
- Occasionally working weekends or in other areas of the UK when needed (with mutual agreement).
- Occasionally undertaking bus shelter refurbishments and other installation-related tasks.
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience in maintenance or installation work.
- Good knowledge of smartphones and digital tools.
- Ability to confidently follow method statements and risk assessments.
- Valid UK driving licence (minimum of 2 years driving experience).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Ability to safely park a company vehicle overnight at home.
- Confidence working at heights and using ladders.
- Good geographical knowledge of Hertfordshire.
Desirable:
- Living in or near Hemel Hempstead/St Albans.
Working Hours
- 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday between 6am and 6pm.
- Hours may vary depending on workload and client needs.
- Additional hours may be required; payment or time off in lieu will be provided.
