Overview
We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Fabricator/Welder to join our manufacturing team. This entry-level position offers valuable hands-on experience in fabrication and welding processes, with opportunities to develop specialised skills such as TIG welding, MIG Welding and Fabrication. The role is ideal for individuals eager to learn, with a keen interest in mechanical work and metal fabrication. The position is full time paid with day release for college attendance one day per week and provides a foundation for a career in manufacturing and engineering.
Duties
- Assist with the fabrication of metal components using various tools and techniques
- Learn and perform TIG and MIG welding, as well as other welding methods such as laser welding welding under supervision
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively
- Use of bandsaws, guillotines and press brakes
- Support the preparation of materials, including cutting, grinding, and shaping metal components
- Follow safety protocols at all times during fabrication and welding activities
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace to ensure safety and efficiency
- Collaborate with team members on assembly tasks and project completion
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of mechanical principles and familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
- Great enthusiasm with a keen eye for detail and willingness to learn
- Good organisational skills and methodical
- Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations relevant to fabrication tasks
- Ability to work safely in a workshop environment following health and safety guidelines
- Strong motivation to develop technical skills in welding and fabrication processes
- Previous experience with welding or similar techniques is desirable but not mandatory

The position would be offered on a day release basis with attendance at college one day per week with four days attendance on site.
Pay: £8.00-£11.00 per hour
