Children’s Residential Support Worker – Learning Disabilities & Additional Needs

We are recruiting on behalf of a warm, nurturing and supportive 3-bed Ofsted-registered children’s home in Chudleigh Knighton, supporting young people aged 8–17 with learning difficulties and intellectual disabilities.
Our client is looking for genuine and compassionate Children’s Residential Support Workers to join their dedicated team, supporting young people who require a more personalised, nurturing and therapeutic approach to care.

About the Role
As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will provide day-to-day care and emotional support to children and young people within a safe and nurturing residential environment.
The young people in the home require higher levels of personalised support, meaning this role is ideal for individuals who are patient, empathetic and genuinely passionate about helping children thrive.
You will support young people with daily routines, education, emotional wellbeing, life skills and meaningful activities while promoting independence, confidence and positive outcomes.
A strong understanding of neurodiversity, emotional needs and individual communication styles will be highly valued.
Working Pattern
40 hours per week
Typical rota includes:
- 5 shifts per week on a rolling rota
- Shift patterns:
- 7:00am – 3:00pm
- 2:00pm – 10:00pm
- One full weekend off every month guaranteed
- Progression towards every other weekend off planned in the near future
Sleep-ins
- £50 per sleep-in
- Staff are asked to have availability for approximately one sleep per week
- Currently averaging around one sleep every other week
What We’re Looking For
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Experience within Residential Childcare, Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings, or supporting children with additional needs
- A strong understanding of learning difficulties, intellectual disabilities and neurodiversity
- A nurturing, patient and resilient approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
A full UK driving licence is preferred but not essential.
