Job Summary
We are seeking to recruit 3 professional and organised GP Receptionist/Administrator to join our busy medical practice. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing excellent customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role offers an opportunity to work in a supportive environment, contributing to the smooth operation of the practice and ensuring patients receive exceptional care. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a keen eye for detail and strong organisational skills.
Responsibilities
- Greeting patients warmly and professionally upon arrival
- Managing appointment bookings, cancellations, and reminders using the practice management system
- Answering phone calls promptly and directing enquiries appropriately
- Handling patient enquiries with empathy and professionalism
- Maintaining accurate patient records in compliance with data protection regulations
- Processing administrative paperwork, including referrals and test results
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails and postal mail
- Supporting general administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, and data entry
- Ensuring the reception area remains tidy, welcoming, and well-stocked with necessary supplies
Experience
- Previous office or administrative experience is highly desirable
- Experience working in a healthcare setting or medical practice is advantageous but not essential
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in using office software such as MS Office (Word, Excel) and practice management systems
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle sensitive information discreetly

Hours are:
All positions are Monday to Friday
Position 1
1100hrs to 1430hrs, Monday to Friday every week
Position 2 & 3 are on a 2 week rota basis with 2 weeks AM followed by 2 weeks PM
Position 2/3: 0800hrs to 1200hrs
Position 2/3: 1400hrs to 1800hrs
Salary is NMW (age appropriate)
Holiday are 5 weeks of your working week plus bank holidays if they fall on your working day
Pay: £12.71 per hour
