A welcoming and supportive Primary School in Smethwick is seeking a confident Reception Teacher to join their team full-time from September to cover a maternity leave until May initially, with the potential for the role to be extended.
This role is ideal for a passionate Reception Teacher who can confidently plan and deliver engaging lessons, create a nurturing learning environment, and support children through this crucial stage of their early education. The school is ideally looking for an experienced teacher with a strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum; however, enthusiastic ECTs with relevant Early Years experience are also encouraged to apply.
As a Reception Teacher, you will take full class teaching responsibility, including planning, preparation, assessment, and attending staff meetings. The school is looking for someone who can create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment where all children can develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.
As a Reception Teacher, your responsibilities will include:
Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework.
Taking full class teaching responsibility for a Reception class.
Creating a stimulating, safe, and nurturing learning environment.
Assessing, tracking, and reporting on children's progress and development.
Supporting children's communication, language, personal, social, and emotional development.
Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, support staff, and senior leaders.
Building positive relationships with parents and carers.
Attending staff meetings and contributing to the wider school community.
Supporting children's wellbeing and preparing them for the transition into Key Stage One.
To be successful in this Reception Teacher role, you will need:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Previous experience teaching within EYFS.
A strong understanding of the EYFS Framework and child development.
Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
The ability to plan and deliver engaging, child-centred learning opportunities.
A flexible, reliable, and professional approach.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
ECTs with relevant Early Years experience are encouraged to apply.
