We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated, patient and nurturing Learning Assistant to provide support for pupils with special educational needs within KS2.
This post is temporary and is subject to continued funding.
The successful candidate will uphold our school values of Friendship, Compassion, Forgiveness, Respect,
Truthfulness and Trust, Perseverance and Thankfulness, while helping to develop a love of learning and enabling every child to achieve their full potential.
This role will involve working closely with children in Key Stage 2, including supporting autistic learners to access the curriculum, develop communication and social skills, build positive relationships, and achieve successful outcomes both academically and emotionally. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of autism and be able to adapt strategies and approaches to meet individual needs, creating a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
Candidates will be expected to have:
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children, staff and parents.
- Patience, empathy and a commitment to inclusive practice.
- Strong positive behaviour management skills and the ability to support children with a range of additional needs.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use their own initiative when required.
Experience of working with KS2 children, particularly those with additional needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), is highly desirable. Experience of supporting children with communication and sensory needs, emotional regulation difficulties, and challenging behaviour would be advantageous. A TEAM TEACH qualification would also be desirable.
An NVQ Level 2 qualification (or working towards it) is desirable, as is previous experience of working as a Teaching Assistant supporting learning within a primary school setting.
