Role Overview:
We are seeking a vibrant and outgoing Support Worker to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a young man, accompanying him to regular sessions at the gym, allotment, cinema, and aquarium. He has a holistic and supportive team that includes Occupational Therapists (OTs), Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs), Day Care professionals, and his family. The family is incredibly supportive and wonderful to work with, making this an engaging and rewarding role.
This role can be full-time. You will be responsible for implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies, ensuring a high quality of life, and promoting independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct 1:1 support to a young man using PBS strategies to enhance his wellbeing and autonomy.
- Accompany him to the gym, allotment, cinema, aquarium, and other community-based activities.
- Implement behaviour support plans and interventions designed by PBS consultants.
- Work collaboratively with the family and a multidisciplinary team, including OTs, SLTs, and Day Care professionals, to ensure consistent and person-centred support.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reports.
- Promote least restrictive practices and uphold the principles of dignity, respect, and choice.
- Participate in training and supervision to continuously develop PBS skills and knowledge.
Communication and Teamwork:
- Communicate professionally with the individual, their family, and other professionals.
- Attend and participate in workshops and meetings.
- Record and report progress data and any additional data requested by PBS consultants.
Commitment to Professional Development:
- Continuously develop professional knowledge and practice in PBS.
- Undertake necessary PBS training.
- Maintain a commitment to further training and professional development.
Safety and Inclusion:
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the individual in all settings.
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures, complying with legal responsibilities.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a PBS or Support Worker role with adults with autism and learning disabilities.
- Experience supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities, or complex needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and least restrictive practices.
Desirable Criteria:
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, PBS training).
- Understanding of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable but not essential).

Pay: £24,862.00-£26,500.00 per year
