Job Purpose
We are seeking a reliable and organised Stores / Goods Inward to join our busy Heysham facility. This role is central to keeping our manufacturing operations running smoothly, responsible for the receipt, inspection, storage, and control of materials, parts, and equipment supporting production. The successful candidate will ensure accurate stock records, safe storage, and timely availability of materials to internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Goods Inward & Receiving
- Receive, unload, and inspect all incoming deliveries
- Check goods against purchase orders, delivery notes, and packing slips to verify quantities and quality
- Identify and report any damages, shortages, overages, or discrepancies
- Sign delivery notes and maintain accurate records of all inbound consignments
Stock Control & Inventory Management
- Book in stock and maintain accurate inventory records using computer systems
- Store materials safely in designated locations and maintain organised storage areas
- Carry out regular cycle counts and stock checks
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies
- Issue stock to internal production teams and maintain full traceability of movements
- Ensure effective stock rotation and accessibility
Compliance & Quality
- Adhere to guidelines and procedures prescribed by ISO 9001:2015
- Support Health & Safety compliance in all stores activities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free work environment
- Ensure all goods meet required quality specifications before acceptance
General Warehouse Duties
- Load and unload goods from vehicles safely
- Operate warehouse equipment safely and correctly
- Support production teams with material distribution to designated manufacturing areas
- Assist with general warehouse organisation and housekeeping
Person Specification
Essential
- Previous experience in goods inwards, stores, warehouse, or stock control (manufacturing environment preferred)
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and stock/inventory systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organisation and communication skills
- Strong awareness of health and safety practices within a warehouse setting
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
- Understanding of components and correct storage practices
- Flexible approach to supporting production/stores activities
Pay: £12.71-£14.00 per hour
